Active Tilt Equalizer

Here is another filter commonly found in hifi amplifiers that I adapted it for use with 9v single supply and guitar signal. In the middle of the tone pot it is almost completely flat and to one side it boost below the center frequency and to the other side it cuts. It also works great as a treble booster or a bass booster (depending on how you set the level), both as a stand alone unit or after a low output fuzz. :)

I recommend putting the level/gain pot outside the box insted of a trimmer in this one.

Hello,

I'd like to know which C1 and C2 values should I put to have 60 Hz and, in another circuit, which C1 and C2 to have 35 Hz.
Is there a way to calculate that ?

Thanks,
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas. Sorry for the late reply. I missed you comment.

I'm afraid I can't give you a good answer. Matematical formulas is my pet peeve, I forget them as fast as I learn them. You should ask in the diystompboxes forum, they will give you an answer. What are you using it for? 35 hz seems extremly low.. Even my studio monitors can't go that low.

Thanks,
It's for my bass guitar.
I wanted a big fat sound and I find it : I made two active Tilt Eq in series, one with your 64Hz settings and one with 220nf and 22nf and that's excellent.
I also put a blend in.
I'd like to thank you for all your other circuits too : I'm gonna make the Sonic Reducer, the Arcadiator and the DISCO soon ;-)

i have a question about this filter..you suggest 125 as a center freq, is not too low? any method to have a switch between 2 different freq?
thanks!

Hi Sebastian,
Thank you. I'm glad you like my blog. :)

125hz is what sounded best to my ears, but I think you should socket the C1/C2 caps are experiment. You can use a DPDT on/on switch for flip between two different center frequencies. Like this - http://www.parasitstudio.se/uploads/2/4/4/9/2449159/1003990_orig.png

Hi Sebastian,
I'm glad you like it! It's a great booster indeed. :)

I don't have any more pro audio layout i'm afraid. Pro Audio stuff isn't really suited for vero IMHO.

Cheers
/ Fredrik

This looks nice, will definetely build it
Iwas wondering, is it possible to put various circuits with different caps and resistors to mimic the pots turned to max in parallel and use a summing opamp with pots to make an eq?

I've never used one before, but I wonder if you could replace C1 and C2 with variable capacitors? Might save from socket/experimenting, or might be more trouble than it's worth
