Here's a great CMOS-based distortion from Runoffgroove. It's actually two distortion in one.
One channel called "bounce" (lead) and one called "jiggle" (rythm). They have individual controls and either can be selected with a 3pdt switch. I got oscillation on the bounce channel, but putting a buffer in front solved that. "We wanted one channel to sound very amp-like in the classic style. The sound of overdriven Fenders, Marshalls, etc. were a target sound. For the other channel, we wanted something a little more "over-the-top." We wanted a very high gain sound, with a smooth top. Something along the lines of the older Boogie amps."
