My filosophy is that every recording should sound as good as possible as early as possible in the recording process. Getting it right from the start is the key to a good recording. I want the recording to sound almost as a ready mix when you raise the levels without help from any plugins. A good drum-sound provide an strong foundation for any recording, that's why I give the drums a bit of extra attention, especially kick and snare.
I've always been into analog gear such as reel to reel recorders, analog delays and guitar-pedals. I still partly use reel to reel recorders for my recordings because of their sound. I generally strive for a warm sound with a raw feeling. |
